World of Warcraft is great because of all the buying selling and trading of items and other stuff that can be done in the game. This screenshot was taken during the beta for the USA in 2004. Originally when the game was in development and in the early stages of beta, Blizzard allowed the buying and selling of WoW gold and WoW accounts. They only stated that it was buyer beware. Everyone that was into buying and selling world of Warcraft gold and accounts was really pleased to see that this external market was going to happen.
Later when the game opened Blizzard changed their stance and made it a violation of the terms of service agreement for buying and selling gold or items. They don't specifically say that the buying or selling of used wow accounts is not ok. But they do leave it up in the air. It's really to bad that they don't allow these sales. Games like Ultima Online and Diablo have great external markets on ebay and at other locations.
Currently if you are caught selling wow gold or items your account may be banned by blizzard. Currently there are no reports of people buying items or gold having had any action taken against their accounts.
